The Diplomats

Artist: Christopher Kameck

Medium: Wheat paste and paint

Location: Seneca Street and Griffin Street

Street artists don’t always put their records at risk. Some prefer to negotiate with building owners, who are increasingly open to turning their blank walls into artworks. These artists choose materials that are non-destructive and sites that are deemed acceptable.

There are huge benefits to such diplomacy. Artists have unrestricted access to their canvases, can work while the sun is out, and are able to sign their works. However, sometimes the forbidden proves irresistible, and diplomats by day turn outlaw after dark.
