HAELISM

Artist: Hael

Location: Below South Park Bridge

Medium: Spray Paint

Some artists choose to remain in the margins. Whether you view their work as art or vandalism, there’s little doubt it’s illegal. These artists keep their identity hidden and their motivations mysterious. Some seem willing to stop at nothing short of world domination.

Hael began his career in Los Angeles three decades ago. He writes HAELER, HAELONE, HAONE, HAELISM on walls all over the world. Of course it’s not always his hand wielding the spray can. Graffiti artists like Hael often work in crews—groups of associated artists who paint the same name, symbol or tag. A crew can not only cover more territory, it reduces the legal risk of the individual artists.

While many graffiti artists have gone the gallery route, Hael has chosen to stick to the streets.
